The company highlights the high quality of the bids submitted and the capabilities demonstrated by the participating municipalities in their proposals for the location of this semiconductor design center specializing in cybersecurity, which involves a private investment of 20 million euros in addition to the 19.6 million euros contributed by the Spanish government
Murcia, May 26, 2026
QUANTIX EDGE SECURITY has selected the city of Murcia as the location for its industrial semiconductor design center project in the Region of Murcia, following the completion of a technical analysis process in which 25 bids from 15 municipalities were evaluated.
The company wishes to express its gratitude to all participating entities, highlighting the high quality of the proposals submitted in both the first and final phases. The eight finalist municipalities—Abarán, Alhama de Murcia, Alcantarilla, Caravaca, Cartagena, Ceutí, Jumilla, and Murcia—submitted projects of excellent quality, which required a particularly thorough analysis and contributed to extending the timeline for the final selection.
This process has highlighted Spain’s strong capacity to attract and promote high-value-added industrial initiatives on an international scale, establishing itself as a competitive environment for the development of strategic technology projects, as well as the commitment of the Spanish Government and investors to the Region of Murcia for developing projects of this caliber within the framework of the European strategy to advance technological sovereignty.
In this context, QUANTIX has identified a site that meets the necessary requirements to proceed with confidence in the implementation of a strategic industrial infrastructure, with an estimated investment of 40 million euros allocated to the design, testing, customization, and security of semiconductors.
The Site
The selected site in the municipality of Murcia stands out due to a combination of key factors for the project’s implementation and its alignment with the company’s strategy to strengthen R&D&I as a vital component of its development.
The choice of this location is therefore based not only on technical and industrial criteria but also on its capacity to host and foster an advanced innovation model.
Among the key factors determining the site are
- Effective availability of developed land with sufficient capacity to house an industrial infrastructure with the potential for expansion.
- Access to utilities that meet the requirements of an advanced technological facility.
- Optimal logistics and communications conditions for both the construction phase and future operations.
- A favorable technical, academic, and talent environment that reinforces the project’s development and the promotion of R&D&I initiatives.
The Project
The QUANTIX project involves an estimated investment of 40 million euros, of which 19.6 million euros come from the Spanish government through the Spanish Society for Technological Transformation (SETT), which holds 49% of the company’s equity. The remainder is contributed by the Murcian companies TProtege and OdinS, the Swiss company WiseKey, and the French company SealSQ.
The initiative will enable the development of an advanced infrastructure in the Region of Murcia focused on the creation of solutions in the field of semiconductors, with applications in strategic sectors such as defense, critical infrastructure, the automotive industry, and IoT, among others.
In terms of employment, the project is expected to progressively generate highly skilled jobs linked to specialized technical roles, with a growing impact as implementation progresses.
The project is part of efforts to strengthen European technological autonomy and aligns with the national strategy to boost the semiconductor industry.
Next Steps
QUANTIX will announce, at a press conference to be held in the coming days, the technical factors that guided the selection of the location, details regarding the exact location, and the general characteristics of the project.
At the same time, the company will begin an in-depth technical verification phase in collaboration with the relevant authorities, aimed at finalizing the operational, administrative, and infrastructure aspects necessary for its development.
Progress in this phase will allow for a more precise definition of the implementation schedule, in line with the industrial and regulatory requirements of an initiative of this nature.
